Jonas Mayer Outstanding Alumnus Award

Jonas Mayer Outstanding Alumnus Award is the highest honor that Thunderbird bestows upon a T-bird. The award recognizes a graduate who demonstrates the ultimate in professional achievement, civic service and Thunderbird activity.

Rising Star Award

Rising Star Award recognizes a graduate who is fewer than 10 years out of school, but is making great strides in his or her career.

Alumni Chapter Leader Award - United States

Alumni Chapter Leader Award-United States recognizes a graduate who resides in the United States who has demonstrated outstanding efforts in increasing engagement, participating in fundraising and fostering the Thunderbird Alumni Network.

Alumni Chapter Leader Award - International

Alumni Chapter Leader Award-United States recognizes a graduate who resides outside of the United States who has demonstrated outstanding efforts in increasing engagement, participating in fundraising and fostering the Thunderbird Alumni Network.


2016 Alumni Award Winners

The following individuals were recognized during Thunderbird’s 70th Anniversary Celebration in April 2016 for their social and professional achievements:

Jonas Mayer Outstanding Alumnus Award

Carlos Neuhaus '74Carlos Neuhaus ’74

 Carlos holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Lima, an MBA from Southern Methodist University, a diploma of development studies from University of Cambridge and a Master of International Management from Thunderbird. He is currently employed as the Independent Director at Automotores Gildemeister, the main distributor of Hyundai vehicles in Peru, and President of Ingenieria Corporativa, a consulting firm specializing in project evaluation, feasibility studies and business management. He’s a dedicated public servant and champion of education who is widely respected for his accomplishments, intellect and integrity. He is a member of the Thunderbird Executive Leadership Council. He loves the ocean and has a fondness for surfing 

Rising Star Award

Kara Connell '13Kara Connell ’13

Kara has used her combined experience in the energy and financial services industries to help prepare other women for successful careers. In 2012, she founded the Thunderbird MBA Women International Mentor Program through which more than 75 women have been mentored. Residing now in Atlanta, Georgia, Kara is fluent in Spanish, has lived in Argentina, Colombia and Peru, and enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, especially her two nieces 

 

Alumni Chapter Leader Award-United States

Ladan Madresehee '97Ladan Madresehee ’97

Ladan arrived at Thunderbird as one of the youngest members of her summer class with her sights set on a career in banking. But, a temporary job at Iridium (Telecommunications Satellite company) in 1998 led to an 18-year career in telecommunications. She is currently employed as the Director of Product Support for the largest CALEA-trusted third party in the United States. A proud 1997 alumna, Ladan is passionate about bringing Thunderbird graduates together at social, educational and professional networking events. She has done this by being an active member of the Washington D.C.-area Thunderbird Alumni chapter where she served as president from 2000-2003 and again in 2014.

Pedro Carvalho '94Pedro Carvalho ’94

Pedro holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Systems and Controls from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and a Master of International Management from Thunderbird. After a career as CFO for several multinationals in Brazil, Pedro currently works as an Executive Search Recruiter. He has successfully served as the Thunderbird Alumni Chapter Leader in Sao Paulo, Brazil for more than 10 years
